3 militants killed, ammunitions recovered

Srinagar, July 13: Three militants, including a self-styled commander of Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI), were killed and another militant surrendered before the security forces in Anantang district on Friday in separate operations, an army spokesman said.

Troops of 36 Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation in Nich Mawar forest in Dooru area of Anantnag district this morning, in which one militant was killed and another surrendered, the spokesman said.

Yusuf Bimla alias Rizwan, company commander of HUJI, was killed while Shahnawaz Naikoo surrendered and two AK assault rifles and some ammunition were also recovered from their possession, he said.

In another incident, six grenadiers killed two unidentified militants in the same district.

Acting on a tip off, the security forces launched an operation and killed two militants and recovered a AK rifle with magazine and ammunitions, the spokesman said.

He said the operation in the area was in progress.
