Hola! I'm Milton Javier Yarleque Ramírez. I was born in Chulucanas in northern Peru on March 8, 1984. That region was influenced by the ancient Vicus culture that developed during the pre-Inca era and its legacy lives on today through its ceramics.
"I began learning this art by observing. When I was seven years old, I'd watch how my uncle, a ceramicist, worked the clay. This is how I became motivated and profoundly interested in the art. I discovered I also had this skill in my own hands and decided to explore it.
"There were many difficulties along the way. It was especially hard to convince my family that art is my life and, through it, I can make many of my dreams come true. This is one of the challenges I had to face at an early age.
Manipulating the clay permits me to express my own forms and movements. They are born on an inner force, and their principal themes are those of my country and the cosmovision of the world.
"I use our ancestral techniques, such as shaping the clay with a paddle and burnishing it with stones from the sea, as well as applying the colors favored by the Vicus and Tallan cultures. So I'd describe my work as that of bygone times brought to today's art. And ever since I discovered I had this talent in my hands, I decided to follow this road in life, never straying from it.
"I'd like to show the entire world that, even though I'm young, I have this talent and I thank God for it. I won't disappoint you. I'll always create the most original designs with the very best finishes for your homes, to fill them with happiness and life.
"I've participated in a number of ceramic competitions, both local and international, and was awarded first prize in the Primer Concurso de Cerámica in 1993."
