"Hello! My name is Poonsak Kanaey and my nickname is 'Sak.' I was born in northern Thailand, the fifth child of six. My parents worked at farming, and I have lived in the hill country ever since I was a young child. Now I am married. My wife is a seamstress and we have two children. My son is studying at the university and my daughter is in high school. Our family is small but warm, and my parents and siblings live in the same neighborhood.
"After graduating from high school, I had one idea. I wanted to have my own business and, at that a moment, I was interested in silver accessories. But since I had no knowledge of silver, I had to learn. I took a job at a silver accessory company and after four years I had sufficient money to open a small workshop.
"At first, I produced silver accessories but, as the cost of silver rose, I began working in nickel too. I have done this ever since 1964. Early this year, I designed a new product line. I call it 'brass picture art.' A picture in brass tells a story about Buddha or Thai literature because I feel a need to preserve Thai culture, tradition and local wisdom. So through my work I make it possible for people around the world to know about Thai stories.
"Every day I make time to create and design. My lifestyle is very smooth and I have time for family activities to. Thus our family is happy and everyone is very close. When someone has a problem, we solve it every time. As my life concept, I have been preserving local wisdom, local culture, the ecology and a renaissance environment in my community.
"Since 2003, my work has been exhibited in regional fairs as well as in Bangkok as a top product from our district. In the future, I'd like to have more apprentices and sell my designs around the world. Through Novica, my dream can become a reality. Thank you to my clients for your patronage. I hope you enjoy my art work for decorating your home."
